- Ingredients
- 3 olive oil
- 4 Tomatoes (split in half horizontally)
- 1 onion (finely sliced into rings)
- 8 Cheese
- ¼ Iceberg lettuce (leaves separated)
- 3.333 cups lean Ground beef
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- salt
- freshly ground Black pepper
Preparation steps
1.
Prepare the burger mixture by mixing the beef mince with the smoked paprika and plenty of seasoning in a large mixing bowl. Mix well with your hands to break up the mince, then cover and leave to one side.
2.
Pre-heat the grill to hot.
3.
Drizzle the tomato halves with the olive oil and season well. Arrange on a baking tray and grill for 3-4 minutes, turning once, until lightly coloured. Remove from the oven and set to one side.
4.
Divide the beef mince into 4 and shape into patties between your hands. Arrange on a lined baking tray and grill for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until cooked. Remove from the oven once cooked.
5.
Build the burgers by arranging one cheese slice on top of the bottom half of the tomatoes. Return to the grill for 1 minute until the cheese has just melted. Remove and top with some of the lettuce.
6.
Sit the patties on top then follow with another cheese slice and some of the finely sliced onion rings.
7.
Return to the grill for another minute until the onion is coloured. Remove and sit the top halves of the tomatoes back in place on top.
8.
Return to the grill for another minute to warm through, then remove and arrange on serving plates lined with greaseproof paper. Season with a little more salt and black pepper before serving.
