- Ingredients
- ⅞ cup sugar
- ⅜ cup lukewarm milk
- 4 Tbsps Yeast
- 2 tsps Dried yeast
- 0.333 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 0.333 cup Sour cream
- 2 Tbsps Vanilla sugar
- ½ cup raisins
- 3.333 cups flour
- butter (for the baking tin)
- flour (for the baking tin)
- To decorate
- 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsps lemon juice
Preparation steps
1.
To make the dough, dissolve 1 tbsp sugar in 50 ml lukewarm milk then add the yeast and stir until it too has dissolved. Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for around 15 minutes.
2.
Melt the butter and leave it too cool. Mix together the remaining sugar and the eggs. Add the sour cream, butter, vanilla sugar, raisins and a pinch of salt. Stir in the yeast mixture and the remaining milk and sieve the flour over the top. Knead everything into a medium-firm dough - it should come away from the bowl by itself, if necessary add a little more flour or milk. Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for around 30 minutes.
3.
Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C in a fan oven), 400°F, gas 6 and grease the Bundt cake tin with butter and dust with flour.
4.
Re-knead the dough again, place in the tin and bake for 50-60 minutes - test with a wooden skewer.
5.
Remove from the oven, leave to cool and knock out of the tin. Mix together the icing sugar and lemon juice and pour over the cooled cake. Leave to dry and decorate with candles if required.
