- For the cupcakes
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup caster sugar (heaped)
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsps cocoa powder
- ¾ cup Cola
- For the buttercream
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 6 Tbsps Cola
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- To decorate
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- cola Gummy candy
Preparation steps

For the cupcakes: heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Place paper cases in a 12 hole bun tin.

Sift together the flour, sugar, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Set aside.

Beat together the egg, buttermilk and vanilla.

Heat the butter, cocoa and Coca Cola in a pan until the butter has melted.

Pour into the dry ingredients, stir well with a wooden spoon, then add the buttermilk mixture beating until well blended.

Pour into the paper cases and bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through. Cool in the tin for 15 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.

For the buttercream: mix together the cocoa, Coca Cola and butter in a pan and heat until melted, then bring to a boil.

Remove from the heat and sift in the icing sugar and vanilla, beating well. Leave to cool until stiff enough to pipe.
9.
Pipe on top of the cakes.
10.
To decorate: beat the butter until very soft. Sift in the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
11.
Spoon into a small piping bag with a star nozzle and pipe a star on top of the buttercream. Decorate with cola sweets.
