Preparation steps

1.

Mix the water with orange blossom water and add sugar. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Add the cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise and nutmeg. Simmer for approximately one hour. Let cool, then stir in the lime juice.

2.

Blanch the almonds for a few seconds, rinse in cold water, drain and remove the skins. Then lightly toast the almonds in a dry frying pan.

3.

Also, toast the sesame seeds slightly in a dry pan without fat.

4.

Mix the dried fruit with the flavored marinade and let soak while covered in the refrigerator overnight.

5.

Just before serving, add the walnuts and almonds. Remove if desired the cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise. Serve the fruits in the marinade and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

6.

Cut 4 pieces of filo dough into 1.5 - 2 cm (approximately 1/2 - 3/4 inch) wide strips, brush with a beaten egg white and roll into a rose flower shape. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven (180°C) (approximately 350°F) for about 10-12 minutes. Bake until the tops are brown. Remove and let cool. To serve, sprinkle with powdered sugar and arrange on the dried fruit salad.
