Preparation steps

1.

Remove any brown or wilted leaves on the very outside of the cabbages. Rinse, napa cabbage, green cabbage and savoy cabbage. Cut the cabbages in half, right through the stem. Place the flat side of the cabbages down and cut the cores out. Cut into thin strips. Peel garlic and onion and chop finely. In a pan heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sauté garlic and onion. Add ground beef and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, until browned and broken up. Add the cabbage stripes and cook for 5 minutes, stirring. Pour the broth over the cabbage mixture and simmer covered for another 5 minutes. Then pull aside and transfer to a bowl.

2.

Rinse basil, pinch off leaves and cut into fine strips. Rinse chili peppers and cut into thin slices, if necessary, remove the seeds. Mix the beef cabbage mixture with basil, 4 tablespoons olive oil, vinegar, chili peppers and season with salt and sugar. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes. Arrange salad in a small bowl and serve with a slice of white bread.
