- Ingredients
- 1 red chili pepper (roughly chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic cloves (roughly chopped)
- kosher salt
- 1 Tbsp Fish sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp Canola oil
- 8 ozs Beef (such as skirt steak, very thinly sliced)
- 1 cup fresh Basil
- cooked white rice (for serving)
Preparation steps
1.
Using a mortar and pestle, pound the red chili and garlic with a pinch of kosher salt until they release their oils and become fragrant.
2.
In a small bowl, whisk together the fish sauce, soy sauce and oyster sauce. Set aside.
3.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil over high heat in a wok, or a large frying pan. Add the crushed chili and garlic. Stir for about a minute. Add the sliced beef and continue to saute for another minute or two. Add the mixed sauces and stir to combine.
4.
When the beef is just about cooked, mix in the fresh basil leaves. Continue to cook until the basil is just wilted. Serve immediately over freshly steamed white rice.
