- For the biscuits
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ cup caster sugar
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- For the buttercream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp milk
- vanilla extract
- To decorate
- 2 ½ ozs Dark chocolate (60% cocoa solids)
- yellow and red Chocolate candy

For the biscuits: heat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375°F gas 5. Line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper.

Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl until soft and light.
3.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, a little at a time, until blended.

Stir in the flour and cocoa and mix to a dough.

Roll out the dough out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1cm|1/2". Using a cookie cutter or card template, cut witch shapes out of the dough and place on the baking tray.

Bake for 8-10 minutes until cooked through. Cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.

For the buttercream: beat the butter until very soft. Sift in the icing sugar gradually and beat until smooth. Beat in the vanilla.

Sandwich the biscuits in pairs with the buttercream.
9.
Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering (not boiling) water. Remove from the heat.
10.
Spoon into a small piping bag and pipe lines to outline the witches hats. Attach the chocolate beans with a dab of chocolate. Leave to set.
