Yeast Dough Easter Bunny
Ingredients
- For the dough
- 500 grams Pastry flour
- 20 grams Yeast
- 280 grams milk
- 100 grams sugar
- 50 grams butter
- 1 pinch salt
- For the decoration
- 1 egg yolk
- 4 Tbsps milk
- raisins
- Almond slivers
Preparation steps
For the dough: Combine yeast and milk in a mixing bowl and stir until yeast dissolves. Add all other ingredients and knead thoroughly with the dough hook of a hand mixer. Set aside in a warm place (such as an oven at 40-50°C, approximately 100-120°F) for about 30 minutes.
Knead dough on a floured surface, divide into 16 dough balls and flatten slightly. Use a knife to cut dough balls and form 2 ears and a rabbit head shape from each. Assemble dough rabbits and place on a lined baking sheet. Whisk egg yolk with milk and use to coat dough rabbits.
For the decoration: Insert raisins into dough rabbit heads to form eyes and mouth and use almond slivers as eyebrows and teeth. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 355°F) for about 12-15 minutes.
