Preparation steps

1.

Put the flour, a pinch of salt and the oil into a mixing bowl. Gradually stir in 80 ml of the water (approximately 3 ounces) so that a smooth, soft dough is formed. Vigorously knead on a floured surface for a few minutes until the dough is elastic and shiny. Form into a ball and let rest for 30 minutes.

2.

Roll out the dough on a floured cloth as thinly as possible without making holes in it. Brush with half of the melted butter and sprinkle with ground almonds.

3.

Peel the apples, quarter, core and cut into columns. Spread onto the bottom half of the dough, leaving 4 cm margins (approximately 1.5 inches). Distribute onto the apples the raisins, chopped marzipan, nuts and orange peel. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

4.

Put the side margins of dough over the filling and roll up laterally.

5.

Place with the seam down on a greased baking sheet and brush with melted butter. Bake in preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 45 minutes.

6.

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
