Preparation steps

1.

Mix 1 tablespoon oil with the honey, soy sauce, paprika and ground cumin. Rinse the chicken drumsticks, pat dry, rub with the spice mixture, and leave for 1 hour.

Cut the white cabbage into quarters, remove the stalk and coarse veins, and slice the cabbage finely. Rinse the bell pepper, cut in half, trim, remove the seeds, and dice. Peel the onion and dice. Dice the bacon.

2.

Peel the apple, cut in half, remove the seeds, and cut into slices. Drizzle with lemon juice.

Fry the bacon and the onion in the remaining oil in a roasting pan or a wide saucepan over low heat. Add the cabbage and bell pepper, and fry briefly.

3.

Add the apple, the tomato and chicken broth, season with salt and pepper, and place the drumsticks over the vegetables in the pan. Cover the pan with lid and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (fan: 180°C, gas mark 3) (approximately 400°F) for about 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for another 20-30 minutes in the oven. Serve on a plate and with mashed potatoes if desired.
