- Ingredients
- 300 grams dried Date (pitted)
- 1 pc fresh ginger (about 2 cm)
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 onion
- 200 grams Apple
- 150 milliliters Orange juice
- 200 grams brown sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 300 milliliters apple cider vinegar
- 60 grams Walnut
Preparation steps
1.
Finely dice the dates. Peel and finely chop the ginger. Peel the garlic, and pass through a press into a bowl. Peel and finely dice the onions. Peel and quarter the apples, then remove the core and finely dice.
2.
Mix all the prepared ingredients with the orange juice, sugar, salt, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 1 hour. Stir occasionally, to keep the mixture from burning on the bottom. If necessary add some juice to help achieve this. Coarsely chop the walnuts, and mix into the finished chutney.
3.
Serve with various soft cheeses.
