- For the chickpea balls
- 8 ozs canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
- 3 ½ ozs brown breadcrumbs
- ½ lemon (juice and grated zest)
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- ½ tsp ground Cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- Oil (for deep frying)
- For the dip
- 3 Tbsps Mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsps Chili sauce
- 1 Tbsp tomato Ketchup
Preparation steps

Put the chickpeas, breadcrumbs, lemon zest and juice, spices and salt in a blender with the egg. Blend to a smooth paste.

Form into balls with moist hands.

Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the balls until crisp and golden. Place on wooden cocktail sticks.
4.
For the dip: mix together all the ingredients and serve alongside the chickpea balls.
