- 35 ozs ripe Plum (pitted weight)
- 8 ozs Apple (roughly chopped)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 ½ cups Golden raisins
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 2 ½ cups Red wine vinegar
Preparation steps

Mix together the plums, apple, onions, sultanas and sugar in a bowl.

Put the salt and spices in a pan with the vinegar and bring slowly to a boil over a low heat. Add the fruit and sugar mixture, stir well and bring to a boil again. Reduce the heat and simmer steadily until thick. To test when the chutney is cooked make a channel across the surface with a wooden spoon: if the impression lasts for a few seconds and does not fill up with vinegar it is ready.

Remove the pan from the heat. Spoon the chutney into warm sterilised jars, seal and label.
