- For the dough
- 250 grams honey
- 75 grams butter
- 75 grams cane sugar
- 1 tsp potatoes
- 400 grams Pastry flour
- 50 grams almonds (blanched and chopped)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp cloves (ground)
- allspice (1/4 tsp, crushed)
- Cardamom (1/4 tsp, crushed)

- 50 grams slivered almonds
- 100 grams blanched almonds
Preparation steps

Stir together honey, butter and sugar and heat until the sugar

has dissolved. Let cool down.

Dissolve potash in 1 tablespoon of water. Add that along with flour, almonds and spices to honey mixture and knead through. Cover and chill 1 hour. Sprinkle a work surface with the sliced almonds. Place the dough on it, roll out and cut into rectangles (3 x 4 cm, approximately 1 x 1 1/2 inches).

Lay cookies almond-covered side down on a parchment-lined cookie sheet, press one almond into top side of each cookie and bake in preheated oven (180°C, approximately 350°F; middle rack) for about 18 minutes until golden brown..
