- Pizza Dough
- ½ cup warm water (110º F / 43º C)
- 2 tsps Dry yeast
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsps olive oil
- 1 Tbsp yellow Cornmeal (for the pan)
- For the Topping
- ¾ cup prepared Marinara sauce (or pizza sauce)
- 1 ½ cups grated Mozzarella
- 2 Tbsps grated Parmesan
- 3 ½ cups canned Pineapple (slices)
- 8 slices cooked ham (thinly sliced and coarsely chopped)
- 1 Red onion (peeled and sliced into rings)
- Italian seasoning (to taste)
Preparation steps
1.
For Pizza Dough:
2.
In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let stand until the yeast dissolves, about 5 minutes.
3.
Mix the flour and salt in a food processor. Blend in the oil. With the machine running, add the yeast mixture and blend just until the dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer the dough to a large oiled bowl and turn the dough to coat with the oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm draft-free area until the dough doubles in volume, about 1 hour. Punch the dough down and divide into 2 equal balls.
4.
Position one oven rack in the center and the second rack on the bottom of the oven and preheat to 450º F / 230º C. Sprinkle cornmeal over 2 rimless baking sheets.
5.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each dough ball into a 10 to 11-inch / 28 to 28 cm round and place on prepared baking sheets.
6.
For the Topping:
7.
Spoon the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around each pizza edge. Sprinkle the cheeses over the sauce. Arrange the pineapple pieces in a single layer over the cheeses. Sprinkle with the ham and red onion. Season to taste with Italian seasoning.
8.
Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven until the crusts are crisp and brown on the bottom and the cheese is melted, about 12 to 15 minutes. Cut the pizza into wedges and serve immediately.
