3 Tbsps sugar
100 milliliters soy sauce
2 Tbsps Rice vinegar

Preparation steps

Peel garlic and ginger and chop fine. Sauté garlic and ginger in oil with red pepper flakes until golden brown. Add bean paste and sauté briefly. Add sugar, soy sauce and 100 mL (approximately 3-1/3 ounces) of water and stir together. Bring to a boil and let simmer, stirring frequently, for about 20 minutes.

Purée mixture and season with rice vinegar. Let cool.
