For the biscuits
½ cup unsalted butter
½ cup light brown sugar
1 egg (beaten)
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup rolled oats
For the topping
½ cup unsalted butter
1 ¾ cups powdered sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 Tbsp milk
To decorate
pink sugar heart
sugar sprinkles

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
2.
Beat the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
3.
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Roll spoonfuls of the mixture into small balls with your hands. Place the balls well apart on the baking tray and flatten slightly.
4.
Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on the baking tray for a few minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
5.
For the topping: beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Sift in half the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
6.
Sift in the remaining icing sugar and cocoa with 1 tablespoon milk and beat until creamy. Beat in more milk if necessary to loosen the mixture.
7.
Spread the topping on the biscuits and decorate with sugar hearts and sprinkles.
