Preparation steps

1.

Mix together the flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, walnuts, chopped butter, cinnamon, cloves and cream. Quickly knead to form a smooth dough, shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

2.

Roll out 2/3 of the dough and place on a buttered baking sheet.

3.

Heat the jelly, stir until smooth and spread on the dough.

4.

Roll out the remaining dough and cut strips about 3 mm (approximately 1/8 inch) wide and arrange in a diagonal grid on top of the jelly.

5.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 30 minutes. Remove, let cool and cut into about 4 x 4 cm (approximately 1 1/2 inch) squares, then serve.
