The sweet fruits contain plenty of provitamin A (precursor of vitamin A). In our body this can be converted into the active vitamin. Which is essentially involved in the visual process. In addition, mirabelle plums are low in acidity and are therefore particularly well tolerated.
The fruit spread tastes especially good on our walnut bread. With this recipe you can also make a delicious fruit spread with other fruits. It also tastes good with plums, nectarines, peaches or apples. Depending on which fruit is in season. Do you still have wrinkled fruit in the house? The spread is also ideal for making use of leftovers.

- 900 grams Mirabelle plum
- lemons (juiced and zested)
- 100 milliliters Orange juice
- 500 grams jam sugar (2:1 ratio)
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1 pc Mace
- 1 tsp allspice
- 2 cloves
- ½ tsp Cardamom
- Paper tea filter
Preparation steps
Rinse the plums and drain well. Cut in half and remove the stones. Puree half of the plums, and finely dice the remaining half.
Mix the plums with the jam sugar and orange juice. Crush the spices lightly in a mortar, then add to a tea bag. Add to the fruit and simmer for 3 hours.
Fill the prepared jars to the brim with the hot jam. Seal tightly and cool completely.
