Even smarter
These monster cookies are a vivid, fun take on a traditional sugar cookie.
This is such a fun thing to serve to children, and it's even more fun to make them together! Give them some frosting and let them make their own monster cookies!
Ingredients
- For the cookies
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup superfine caster sugar
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- To decorate
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- water
- green and black Food coloring
- ½ cup red Fondant (cut into thin sticks)
Preparation steps
For the biscuits: heat the oven to 375°F. Line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
Roll out the dough out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1/2". Using a cookie cutter or card template, cut frankenstein shapes out of the dough and place on the baking tray.
Spread the green icing over the cookies and leave to set.
Put the black icing into a piping bag and pipe the hair, eyes, nose, mouth and bolts onto the biscuits. Pipe around the outline of the cookies.
Arrange the red fondant sticks on top, as in the photo, and leave to set.
