Preparation

Kitchen utensils

1 Bowl, 1 Wok, 1 Plate, 1 Cutting board, 1 Large knife, 1 Small knife, 1 Tablespoon, 1 Whisk, 1 Slotted spatula, 1 Garlic press

Preparation steps

1.
For the rolls: put the flour, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl, then rub in the butter until the mixture turnsresembles breadcrumbs.
2.
Stir in the yeast, egg and milk and mix well until the mixture forms a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Lightly oil the mixing bowl.
3.
Put the dough into the greased bowl and cover with a tea towel or cling film and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
4.
For the filling: combine the cinnamon, sugar and pecans in a food processor, then whiz until the nuts are finely ground.
5.
Punch down the dough and knead to knock out the air. Roll and stretch the dough on a floured surface to form a 23 x 30 cm|9" x 12" rectangle.
6.
Brush the dough with half the melted butter and sprinkle over the sugar, cinnamon and pecans.
7.
Roll up the dough tightly, like a swiss roll, starting at the long edge. Press the edges to seal, then cut into 8 slices.
8.
Grease 2 baking trays. Put the buns on the trays and cover and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
9.
Heat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375°F gas 5.
10.
Bake the buns for 30 minutes until golden. Place on a wire rack to cool.
11.
For the topping: heat the maple syrup, sugar and remaining butter in a pan, stirring until melted.
12.
Drizzle the maple syrup glaze over the buns and sprinkle with the pecans.
