Pistachio Cigars
Ingredients
- For the cigars
- 1 pkg Filo dough
- 200 grams melted butter
- 100 milliliters vegetable oil
- 200 grams Date (pitted)
- 100 grams chopped Walnut
- 200 grams ground Walnut
- 150 grams chopped Shelled pistachio
- For garnish
- Pistachio
Preparation steps
For the syrup: In a pot, boil the water and sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice. Set aside.
For the cigars: Finely blend the dates with 5 ml (approximately 1 teaspoon) of the oil and 50 grams (approximately 1/4 cup) of the butter. Stir in the chopped walnuts, ground walnuts and chopped pistachios.
Place 2 sheets of phyllo on top of each other. Spread the nut mixture on top. Roll into a tube. Cut into 8-10 cm (approximately 3 1/8-4 inch) long pieces. Place in a greased baking dish. In a bowl, stir the remaining butter and oil together. Pour over the cigars.
Bake in a 180°C (approximately 350°F) oven until golden. Remove from oven and pour the syrup overtop.
For garnish: Sprinkle with the pistachios and cool before serving.
