Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 160°C (approximately 325ºF).

Bring the cream to a boil in a large pot with the bay leaves and the sage. Season with salt and pepper.

Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices. Peel and halve the onions and cut into strips.

Add the onion strips to the boiling cream and simmer for 2-3 minutes while stirring over low heat. Add the potato slices and bring to a boil. Season with salt.

Pour into a baking dish, smooth the surface and shower with cheese.

Place in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes, until the potato slices are tender and the cheese is lightly browned.

Serve immediately.
