- 2 onions
- 2 Bell pepper (yellow and red)
- 3 Tbsps vegetable oil
- salt
- 700 grams Ground beef
- Sambal oelek (chile paste)
- 2 tsps Mustard
- 5 Tbsps Ketchup
- 8 Hamburger bun
Preparation steps

Peel and finely chop onions. Halve peppers, remove seeds and ribs, and finely chop. Sauté peppers and half of the chopped onion in a tablespoon hot oil, about 5 minutes. Season with salt. Add 150 ml (approximately 2/3 cup) water and simmer about 10 minutes.

In a bowl, combine remaining onion, ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon sambal oelek, mustard and 1 teaspoon salt. Knead to combine. With moistened hands, form mixture into 8 burgers. In remaining oil, fry burgers, about 4 minutes per side.

Mix pepper and onion mixture with ketchup and season with Sambal oelek. Slice rolls, warm if desired, and layer with lettuce, burgers and sauce. Serve with French fries if desired.
