Preparation steps

1.

Bring the lemon juice, 250 ml (approximately 8 ounces) of water, the cinnamon, and the sugar to a boil. 

2.

Peel and quarter the apples. Remove the core and cut the quarters into slices. Add the apples to the cooking liquid, and return to a boil. Simmer the mixture for 2-3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Let the compote cool slightly. The compote can be served while still warm, or cooled.
