5 ½ cups Cavatappi pasta (or pasta of your choice)
2 Tbsps unsalted butter
1 Tbsp flour

1.333 cups milk
1 ½ cups shredded, sharp Cheddar cheese
4 spears cooked Asparagus (cut into pieces)
chopped Chives (for garnish)

Preparation steps

1.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.

In the same pot that you cooked the pasta in, melt the butter over medium heat then whisk in the flour and pepper. Add the milk all at once and whisk to fully combine the flour mixture into the milk. Cook until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
3.
Remove from heat and add the cheese stirring until the cheese is fully melted. Stir in the cooked macaroni and asparagus; return to heat until heated throughout. Garnish with chopped chives; serve immediately.
