3 ½ cups Blackberry
1 cup all-purpose flour (scant)
Nutmeg (grated)
4 Tbsps sugar
¼ cup butter (in chunks)
¼ cup Buttermilk
4 Tbsps Clotted cream

If you are unable to find clotted cream, you can use full fat cream cheese instead.

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C in a fan oven), 400°F, gas 6 and butter a small pie dish.

Tip the berries into the dish.
3.
For the dough, mix together the flour, a pinch of nutmeg, the sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the butter and knead into the dough. Mix in enough buttermilk so that the dough is firm and can be moulded, but is not sticky. Form into small balls, press flat and place on top of the berries.
4.
Bake in the oven for around 30 minutes. Remove, cool briefly and divide between dessert glasses. Top each serving with 1 tbsp clotted cream and serve.
