- 2 Tbsps Oil
- 6 ½ cups braising Beef (cubed)
- 4 slices Bacon (cut into strips)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 3 ¼ cups carrots (thickly sliced)
- 2 Tbsps all-purpose flour
- 2 cups dark beer (or stout)
- 3 tsps dark brown sugar
- 2 Tbsps tomato puree
- salt
- peppers
- 1 Tbsp Treacle
- 1 tsp Juniper Berry (crushed)
- To garnish
- parsley

Normal Cooking: follow the recipe from step 2 to the end of step 5. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish. Cover and cook for about 2 hours 160°C|325F|gas 3 until the beef is tender.

1 Bowl, 1 Cutting board, 1 Large knife, 1 Small knife, 1 Tablespoon, 1 Peeler, 4 Cookie cutter rings
Preparation steps
1.
Preheat the slow cooker if necessary – see manufacturer’s instructions.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan and fry the meat in batches until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
3.
Heat the remaining oil in the pan and cook the bacon, onion and carrots for about 5 minutes until browned.
4.
Stir in the flour, followed by the beer, sugar, tomato puree and a good seasoning of salt and pepper.
5.
Bring to a boil and stir in the treacle and juniper berries.
6.
Transfer to the slow cooker pot. Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours until the beef is tender.
7.
Serve garnished with chopped parsley.
