Ingredients

For the pastry
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp ground Turmeric
½ tsp salt
¼ cup Lard
¼ cup butter
For the filling
1 Tbsp sunflower oil
cup Minced Beef
½ onion (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic cloves (finely chopped)
½ habanero Chili (deseeded and finely chopped)
1 tsp Curry paste
2 large Tomatoes (deseeded and finely diced)
1 Tbsp thyme (finely chopped)
½ cup breadcrumbs

Preparation steps

1.
Whizz the pastry ingredients in a food processor or rub together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add just enough water to form a stiff dough, wrap in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.

Heat the oven to 200C (180C fan) 400F, gas 6.

Heat the oil in a wide pan and cook the beef until browned all over. Add the onion, garlic and chilli and cook for a further 5 minutes.

Stir in the curry paste, diced tomatoes and thyme, cook for 5 more minutes then add the breadcrumbs and season with salt and pepper.

Divide the pastry into 8 pieces and roll each one out to a circle about 12 cm in diameter.
6.
Place a little of the filling onto the circles, fold over and press the edges together with a fork.
7.
Place the patties on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
