200 grams butter

1 tsp ground Caraway
150 grams grated Cheese (such as Emmentaler)

Preparation steps

Form flour into a mound on a flat work surface and make a well in the center. Cut butter into small pieces and spread around well. Mix egg with salt, chile powder and cumin and pour into well. Use hands to quickly knead into a smooth dough, adding more flour or water as needed. Add cheese, shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Roll out dough on a floured surface until about 3-4 mm thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out Christmas tree shapes. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and sprinkle with paprika. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and serve.
