Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400ºF).

2.

For the cake, grease a baking dish of about 20 x 20 cm (approximately 8 x 8 inches).

Melt the coarsely chopped chocolate over a pan of hot water. Remove from the heat and stir in pieces of cold butter.

3.

Combine 100 grams of sugar (approximately 4 ounces) with the flour and the cocoa and mix well. Beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is white and creamy. Gently stir in the cooled chocolate-butter mixture. Add the sifted flour and fold together.

Pour the mixture evenly into the baking dish and bake on the middle rack for about 25 minutes. The cake should not be too dry.

4.

For the topping, chop the nuts coarsely.

Combine the honey with the brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of water and simmer for 2-3 minutes to melt. Remove from the heat and mix in the nuts. Allow to cool slightly.

Chop the chocolate and fold into the nut mixture. It should be a little melted but remain lumpy. Spread onto the cooled cake base and allow to cool.

Loosen the cake from the dish and serve cut into small pieces.
