Nutritional values

As Homer used to say, "Pears are a gift from God." No wonder, 'cause pears provide vitamin C and B vitamins. The pome fruit also scores with minerals such as zinc, phosphorus, calcium and iron. In addition, the dried pear is rich in fibre.

In principle, you should only dry flawless food. Lazy spots, pressure marks and mould are exclusion criteria. In addition, the thinner the fruit is cut and the higher the oven temperature, the quicker the drying process. However, too high temperatures destroy the valuable ingredients.

Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 60°C (approximately 150°F).

Rinse the pears, pat dry and halve. Cut out the core. Squeeze the lemon and mix the juice with half a liter (approximately 2 cups) of water. Submerge the pears in the liquid and drain on paper towel.

3.

Line a baking tray and spread the pears on it. Dry the fruit in the oven until chewy, but not mushy or soft. The drying time can be between 8 and 16 hours (depending on the size).
