Healthy, because

Even smarter

This beautiful Easter centerpiece contains protein from the eggs and vitamin C from the orange. That said, it is high in sugar, so should be enjoyed in moderation.

Outside of easter, you can leave out the eggs to create as simple but delicious roll.

Preparation steps

1.

Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Mix the flour with the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, orange peel, aniseed powder and eggs. Pour in the yeast water and knead with the dough hook of the hand mixer. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.

2.

Rub the colored eggs lightly with a little oil.

3.

Put the dough on a floured surface and knead well again. Shape the dough into a log and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into about 25 cm (approximately 10 inches) long logs and cross the ends so that loops are formed. Place the dough loops on greased baking sheet and place 1 colored egg in the center of each loop.

Whisk the egg yolk with 1 tablespoon water and brush the loops with it. Sprinkle the loops with sesame seeds and let rise covered for about 15 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F (convection 160°C/ 325°F)  for about 20-25 minutes.
