Peel the onion, carrots and celery root and cut into pieces. Cut cabbage into strips. Fry together until light golden brown in melted butter. Pour in approximately 1.2 liters (approximately 5 cups) of water and simmer for about 20 minutes. Then pour the soup into another pot through a sieve. Bring to a boil.

Peel kohlrabi and cut into strips. Rinse some of the leaves and cut into strips. Add leaves with the strips to the soup and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Season with salt, pepper and caraway seeds and serve.
