Preparation steps

1.
Lightly grease a rimmed baking tray with butter.

Put the sugar, salt and 125ml | 1/2 cup water into a wide saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until the sugar begins to melt. Once melted, increase the heat and cook for about 10 minutes, until the mixture turns a golden amber colour.
3.
Remove the pan from the heat and immediately stir in the almonds. Spread the mixture over the baking tray using an oiled spatula.
4.
Leave until completely cold before breaking into pieces to serve.
