4 Tbsps vegetable oil
2 Tbsps butter
100 milliliters dry white wine
1 Beef broth
salt

4 slices white bread
100 grams freshly grated Cheese (such as Gouda, Emmental)

Preparation steps

1.

Peel onions, halve and cut into strips.

2.

Heat the oil and half the butter in a saucepan.

3.

Braise onion strips approximately 10 minutes.

4.

Preheat the oven to broiler setting. Pour white wine and broth into the onions and cook approximately 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Toast the bread and spread with the remaining butter, top with cheese and broil in the oven (middle).

5.

Pour the onion soup into preheated soup tureens and serve with the cheese toast.
