Preparation steps

Rinse the potatoes, peel and cut into thin slices. Rinse the carrots and slice. Alternately layer the potatoes and carrots in a greased baking dish. Season each layer with salt and pepper. Mix the cream and milk. Season with salt and pepper.

Grate the cheese and sprinkle over the vegetables. Rinse the basil leaves, finely chop and sprinkle half over the cheese. Pour in the milk cream. Cut the butter into small pieces and spread over the gratin. Bake for about 45 minutes at 180°C (approximately 350°F). Remove from the oven, let cool and serve sprinkled with the remaining basil.
