Preparation steps

1.

Thaw puff pastry sheet and brush with a little water. Roll out into a rectangle about 25 x 40 cm (approximately 10 x 16 inches). Cut a strip off from each edge about 3 cm (approximately 1 inch) wide. Brush edge of dough with egg yolk and place strips around edges like a frame, pressing to seal.

2.

Mix yolks with sugar until creamy. Mix in quark, poppy seeds and cornstarch. Cut apples into quarters, remove seeds, chop flesh and sprinkle with lemon juice. Spread quark mixture onto dough and sprinkle with diced apples. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (approximately 400°F) for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with raisins and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
