- Ingredients
- 16 ozs Apple
- ½ lemon
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsps cinnamon
- ½ cup raisins
- 2 sheets phyllo pastry
- 2 Tbsps melted butter
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Preparation steps
1.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2.
Peel, core, slice, and dice the apples. Place the apples into a mixing bowl.
3.
Juice the lemon and pour over the apples.
4.
Add the sugar, cinnamon, and raisins to the bowl. Stir the mixture until well combined.
5.
Place 1 sheet of phyllo on a kitchen towel and brush with melted butter. Place a second sheet on top and brush with butter again
6.
Mound the filling along the narrow end of the phyllo, leaving a 2-inch border.
7.
Lift towel, using it to fold leaves over apples. Fold in the ends of the phyllo to seal in the apples. Continue to gently turn the covered apples over the rest of the phyllo.
8.
Place the strudel, seam side down, on a baking sheet and brush the top with butter.
9.
Bake for about 25 minutes, until pastry is golden brown and fruit is tender. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top to serve.
