Preparation steps

1.

In a pot, combine bacon with water to cover and cook over low heat for about 50 minutes. Rinse beans and trim ends. Add beans and savory to the pot after 20 minutes have passed.

Halve pears, remove cores, peel, and add to the pot 20 minutes before the end of the cooking time. Before serving, remove bacon from the pot and cut into slices. Season beans with salt and pepper. Serve beans, pears and bacon garnished with some of the savory. Serve with boiled potatoes, if desired.
