800 grams mixed Ground meat
1 garlic clove
1 tsp dried thyme
1 egg yolk
salt
peppers
olive oil (for the baking dish)
1 onion
1 handful Basil
1 pinch sugar
1 splash lemon juice
1 Tbsp Tomato paste
400 grams stewed Tomatoes
75 grams grated Parmesan
2 scoops Mozzarella (each about 125 grams)
Basil (for garnish)

Preparation steps

1.

Peel garlic and squeeze. In a bowl, mix minced meat, thyme, and egg yolk. Season mixture well with salt and pepper. Form mixture into small balls and place in a baking pan greased with oil.

Preheat oven to 180°C convection (approximately 350°F).

Peel onion and chop finely. 

Rinse basil, shake dry and pluck leaves.

Mix together onion, sugar, lemon juice, tomatoes and tomato paste. Season sauce with salt and pepper and spread over meatballs. Cut mozzarella into slices, put on top of meatballs and bake in the oven until golden brown, about 40 minutes.

Garnish with basil to serve.
