Preparation steps

1.

Trim the cauliflower, cut into florets, rinse and drain well. Rinse the tomatoes, cut into large slices and remove the tough core.

Grease a casserole dish with butter and pour in the vegetables. Whisk the eggs and heavy cream, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg and pour over the vegetables. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (approximately 350°F) for about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, cut the mozzarella into thin slices. Spread the cheese on top of the gratin and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Broil for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking for a nicely browned top. Remove from the oven and serve hot.
