Ingredients
for
4
- Ingredients
- 200 grams Long grain rice
- salt
- 3 Tbsps Sesame seeds
- 1 dried chili pepper (or more to taste)
- 4 Tbsps Canola oil
- 500 grams Seitan
- Canola oil (for frying)
- 2 Tbsps soy sauce
- cilantro (for garnish)
Preparation steps
1.
Rinse the rice in a colander, put in a pan and cover with water and a little salt. Bring to a boil, cover and cook for about 20 minutes over low heat.
2.
Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan, then remove and let cool briefly. Finely grind the chile using a mortar. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the chile for 2-3 minutes, then drain, saving the oil.
3.
Cut the seitan into strips of about 5 mm (approximately 1/4 inch) thickness and skewer in a wavy pattern. Heat oil for frying in a deep pan until about 170°C (approximately 325°F). Fry the skewers for a few minutes until crisp and fragrant. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with chile oil and soy sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with the rice, garnished with cilantro.
