Nutritional values

This sweet treat is low in sugar and in fat, but high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber because fruits are the center of the dish. While it does contain some added sugar, most of the sweetness comes from the fruits themselves.

Sweeten it with honey or maple syrup instead of sugar, use coconut oil instead of butter, and add some cinnamon on top for some more flavor!

Preparation steps

1.
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
2.
Wash the apples. Cut off the top of each apple to make a lid and core carefully, making sure you do not puncture the bottom. Enlarge the hole slightly. Wash the grapes, pat dry and cut in half. Wash the raisins and mix together with the rum. Toast the almonds in a dry frying pan, then allow to cool. Halve the apricots, remove the stone and cut into wedges.
3.
Melt the butter and the sugar in a pan over a medium heat until the mixture has caramelized. Now pour in the vinegar, add the grapes, raisins and the apricot wedges and mix well. Simmer for 2 minutes. Now stir in the almonds. Stuff each apple with the mixture. Place the apple and the remaining filling in an ovenproof dish and put the lids on the apples. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Cover with aluminium foil if needed. Serve hot.
