This lime water is not only pure refreshment. Vitamin C from the limes protects the body, similar to vitamin E and beta-carotene, from uncontrolled radical formation and thus from cell damage. Although limes do not have quite as much vitamin C as their big sister, the lemon, they still contribute to the supply of the fitness vitamin.

The recipe can easily be extended to a cucumber-mint lime lemonade. Simply wash a small cucumber, cut it into slices, puree and add to the syrup.

Rinse the mint and pat dry. Remove the leaves from the stems and finely chop. Add the mint, lime zest, and the lime juice to the syrup.
