1 generous pinch Chinese 5 spice powder
1 generous pinch Ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp raisins (finely chopped)
1 egg (beaten)
2 Tbsps breadcrumbs
1 sprig thyme
salt

200 milliliters Vegetable broth

Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F).

Rinse the apples and use an apple corer to remove the core. Halve the apples crosswise and scoop out the interior, leaving about 1-1.5 cm (approximately 3/8 inch). Chop the apple flesh finely and mix with the ground meat, chopped raisins, breadcrumbs and egg. Season with ground cinnamon, Chinese 5-spice, salt and pepper and mix well with hands.

Press the filling into the apples, sprinkle with thyme and place the top on the apple. Place a cinnamon stick in the center of each apple. Transfer the apples to a baking dish and pour the vegetable broth in the bottom. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the apples are tender and the meat is cooked through. Serve immediately.
