Product recommendation

Suggested variation; normal oranges work just as well as blood oranges. You could also mix half orange with the segments of one grapefruit for a sharper tasting dessert.

Preparation steps

1.
Coat the chopped bananas with a little of the lemon juice to prevent discolouration.
2.
Together with the blood oranges layer alternately at the bottom of the slow cooker so that the fruit is evenly spaced.
3.
Mix the cinnamon with the orange juice and add the seeds from the scraped vanilla pod. Pour the spiced juice mixture over the bananas and oranges.
4.
Cover and place on a low setting for 2 hours.
5.
Once cooked remove from the slow cooker into a mixing bowl.
6.
Combine the bananas and oranges together to form a thick stewed fruit mixture.
7.
Serve in bowls and top with banana slices and a pinch of cinnamon if desired.
