500 grams Cornmeal (canned)
1 garlic clove
2 scallions
1 red chili pepper
1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Preparation steps

Drain the cornmeal and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Peel and press the garlic. Rinse the scallions and cut into slices. Rinse the chile pepper, cut lengthwise, remove seeds and ribs, and finely chop.

Heat oil in a pan and saute the garlic in it. Add the scallions and chile pepper. Add the drained cornmeal and pour in ½ liter (approximately 2½ cups) of water. Simmer over low temperature until the water is completely absorbed. Season with salt. Divide the hominy equally into bowls and serve.
