Preparation steps

Toast the pine nuts in a dry pan until golden brown. Remove from the pan and let cool. Rinse the basil, pat dry, and remove the leaves from the stems.

Peel and halve the garlic cloves. Finely grate the parmesan cheese.

Puree the basil, pine nuts, and garlic in a food processor. Mix in the olive oil, with the motor running, until a thick pesto has formed.
4.
Mix in the parmesan cheese, and season to taste with salt and pepper.
