- 6 Pita bread
- ½ Red onion (cut into fine rings)
- 2 beefsteak Tomatoes (chopped)
- 6 Lettuce (torn into bite-sized pieces)
- For the burgers
- 1 clove garlic cloves (pressed)
- ½ bunch fresh mint (a few leaves set aside for the salad, rest finely chopped)
- 1 stale Bread roll
- 18 ozs minced lamb
- ½ cup Feta (finely grated)
- 1 egg
- Cumin
- 4 Tbsps Oil (for frying)
Preparation steps
1.
Heat the pita breads in the oven and open them.
2.
Soak the bread roll in water and wring it out well. Mix it together with the meat, egg, garlic, feta, mint, salt, ground black pepper and a pinch of cumin.
3.
Mix the tomatoes, onion and lettuce with the reserved mint and place half of the mixture into the pita bread pockets.
4.
With moistened hands shape the meat mixture into six burgers. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the burgers for 6-10 minutes, turning once.
5.
When done put the burgers into the pita bread pockets and tuck the remaining salad around them. Season with salt and ground black pepper and serve immediately.
